What’s happening at the Edinburgh Credit Scoring Conference later this year?

The 18th Credit Scoring and Control Conference will be held in Edinburgh, Scotland from August 30 to September 1, 2023. The biannual conference is organized by the Credit Research Centre at the University of Edinburgh and is the world's premier conference for credit scoring and credit risk related topics.  Paragon is once again sponsoring the Gala dinner, at which the Paragon Best Paper Award will be presented.  The award goes to the best conference paper, judged by an independent industry panel on their relevance and practical application.   With topics such as Affordability and financial vulnerability, AI/ML and deep learning for credit risk, Climate risk, Fairness and transparency, Model risk, Open Banking and transactional data all likely to be addressed the judging is likely to be as tough as ever.

The following keynote speakers will no doubt stimulate thought and discussion,

Dr Joseph Breeden, CEO, Deep Future Analytics LLC (USA)

Dr Michaela Pagel, Roderick H. Cushman Associate Professor, Columbia Business School (USA), NBER Faculty Research Fellow, CEPR Research Affiliate (Household Finance Network Member)

Catarina Souza, Head of Division, Model Development and Review, Bank of England

Dr Scott Zoldi, Chief Analytics Officer, FICO

along with many more speakers from credit scoring consultancies, banks, other financial institutions and universities.

In addition to the Gala dinner, there will be plenty of opportunities to network with other delegates, sponsors and exhibitors during refreshment breaks, lunches, the 4most sponsored welcome reception and the Actico sponsored breakfast symposium.  Also on the agenda is a 5k early morning guided run for those that like to get their daily exercise in.  I’m hoping it will include a visit to nearby Arthur’s Seat, an ancient volcano, sitting 251m above sea level giving excellent views of the city.

Following the virtual version of the conference in 2021, the 2023 conference promises to be another special event with the mix of attendees and presenters always stimulating much discussion, debate and learnings.   Here at Paragon we are already preparing ourselves for the conference where we will be co-presenting sessions on Model Risk and Modelling Challenges, as well as showcasing our latest Focus and Modeller software solution releases.  We really looking forward to meeting old and new friends again in person and we hope to see you there!
